JACQUELINE MARGARET HUNTER, age 83 of Colorado Springs, passed away on November 21, 2013. Jackie was born in Bogalusa, LA on September 16, 1930 to the late Henry and Robelia "Bea" Smith. She had one brother, Preston "Sonny" Smith and a sister, Beverly Smith Gross, who preceded her in death.
Jackie graduated from Bogalusa High School. She then met and married the love of her life, James D. Hunter on November 23, 1951. They resided for one year in Washington D.C. and then moved for two years to Fort Belvoir, VA due to Jim's military service. They moved back to their home state of Louisiana where they had a successful Interior Design business for 40 yrs and raised their four children. Her love for the mountains lead them to colorful Colorado where they lived happily for many years up until her passing.
Jackie enjoyed games, painting, traveling and especially camping with her family. She was a devout Christian woman who truly loved the Lord.
She is survived by her husband James Durwood Hunter; and her four children; Michelle Hunter Cormier and son-in-law, Mark D. Cormier; James Kevin Hunter and daughter-in-law Margaret Hunter; John Jeffrey Hunter; Marianne Hunter; five grandchildren; Travis, Shane, Lindsay, Brandon and Brooke, two great-grandchildren, Delano and Lexa.
Celebration of life will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 30th at Church of All Nations, 6540 Templeton Gap Rd in Colorado Springs.
