Margaret Lee Henderson was born to Sidney and Mary Lee Edwards in Joliet, Illinois on
October 21, 1929. She made her transition on September 7, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Margaret was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Henry H. Henderson, Jr.

Margaret attended Joliet public schools, graduating from Joliet Township High School. After graduation Margaret continued her education by earning an associated degree in business from Cortez Peters Business School in Chicago, Illinois.
Margret enjoyed a career of more than 20 years at Joliet Federal Savings and Loan. She was the first woman of color to enter a management position for the company, being appointed as Assistant Treasurer.
Margaret accepted Christ as an early age, and was a member of Second Baptist Church during her youth and young adult years. She volunteered at many local school and community events during her time in Joliet. She moved to Colorado Springs to assist in the early raising of her grandchildren, and subsequently moved back to Joliet shortly after they reached school age. She moved back to Colorado Springs in 2013 and spent her remaining years with her immediate family there.

Hank and family, Joe and I cherish the memories we have of Margaret. She was a grand lady and no one could put Joe in his place like she could :). Celebrate her with tears, laughter and wonderful memories.
We pray that God continues to comfort you all.
Your parents left a great legacy.

Margaret was a wonderful to work for. This I know, as I had the privilege and honor to do just that in the Seventies, at Joliet Federal. Will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. She will be missed.

May memories bring you comfort and peace. I had the privilege of working with Margaret at Joliet Federal in the '60's. Margaret was a wonderful soul who treated everyone with kindness and love. I too loved her and spent many hours with her and Henry. She lives on through her family.
