Violet Elizabeth Glaser
January 12, 1920 - May 11, 2018
Violet Glaser, a long time resident of Calhan, Colorado went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 11, 2018 after a well lived 98 years. She was a loving & devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Violet Elizabeth (Dzuris) Glaser was born on January 12, 1920 on a farm in Calhan, Colorado to the late George Dzuris and Elizabeth (Kasko) Dzuris. She attended Fairplay School until the 8th grade and then graduated in 1938 from Calhan High School.
She married Edward Varner Glaser on June 22, 1941 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Calhan. They moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma so Edward could train pilots in World War II.
Edward and Violet moved back to Calhan and founded Glaser Gas & Equipment in 1949. It started from humble beginnings as did its owners. They incorporated in 1965. Under their diligent management of over 60 years, Glaser Gas Inc. became one of Colorado's largest independent propane companies.
On the weekends, Edward & Violet had a family band and played for many local dances. She also played the card game "nerts" with friends every Monday night for over 40 years. Violet was not shy to invite new residents in the area to come to church. They were devoted members of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Violet was a member of the choir and alter guild. She was also a member of the V.F.W Post #5221 Ladies Auxiliary and a long time member of the International Polka Club where she loved to dance. We will all miss her wonderful recipes especially her angel food cakes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; George & Elizabeth Dzuris; her brother, Clarence D. Dzuris; her son, Steven in infancy; her son, Eldon G. Glaser; her grandson; Shawn D. Glaser; and her husband Edward V. Glaser.
She is survived by her sons, Edwin P. (Gladys) Glaser of Calhan, and David E. Glaser (Corliss Palmer) of Falcon; daughter-in-law, Diane Glaser of Colorado Springs; nine grandchildren, Mark (Robyn) Glaser, Keri (David) Hamula, Christopher (Vicki) Glaser, Angela (Brian) Barquist, Edwin II (Tina) Glaser, Nicole (Jason) Glab, John (Jenny) Glaser, Alexander Glaser and Cassandra Glaser; granddaughter-in-law, Christy Dawson-Glaser; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1:00PM - 2:00PM on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Calhan, followed by the funeral service at the same location at 2:00PM.
Immediately afterward, burial will take place at the Calhan Memorial Cemetery. Refreshments will be served at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
