David D. Penman departed this world on December 21, 2012, in Columbia, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents Dave and Vera (Bader) Penman. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; two children, Shawn Penman of Albuquerque, N.M. and Scott (Amy Gossett) Penman of Columbia Mo. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Evangeline Arlene and David Alexander of Columbia, Mo. These two grandchildren brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Sterling and Pat Penman of Fort Mohave, Ariz; brother and sister in-laws, Phil & Cathy Karr of Manitou Springs and Scott and Doris Hendricks of Manitou Springs. He enjoyed his seven grand-nieces and nephews and their fourteen children. Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 29, at 10:30 AM at the Community Congregational Church, 103 Pawnee Avenue, Manitou Springs. The family has requested no flowers but remembrances can be sent to Fountain Creek Restoration Project c/o Pikes Peak Community Foundation 730 N. Nevada Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

RIP Dave and may God bless your family in these difficult times. I enjoyed working with you over the years at Colorado Springs Utilities, you were always there to lend a helping hand when needed. I remember the standing phrase of referring to you as the mayor of Manitou because you were there so long. You will be missed but certainly not forgotten. Thanks for the memories ole buddy!

Dear Arlene and family, I was so sad to hear about David. I have such fond memories of him as part of our Lincoln neighborhood. I remember him walking down the street in the evening with a drink in his hand and a ready smile. I remember when he came running to my rescue when I was doing some "home repair" to the light switch. He will be greatly missed. Linda Craig
