It is bittersweet to announce the passing of a very loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. William Nelson Dewar III, 62, passed away on September 19, 2013, after a 25-year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis.
He was born October 13, 1950, in Aurora, Colorado, to William Nelson and Marjorie Belle (Mussetter) Dewar Jr. On January 4, 1972, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Judy Kay McClure, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A1968 graduate of Mitchell High School, he attended one year at Colorado State University in Pueblo before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps on November 3, 1969. Bill served his country during the Vietnam War as a Communications Specialist stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, and Okinawa Prefecture before being honorably discharged on November 3, 1972.
Bill and Judy returned to Colorado Springs where Bill attended Pikes Peak Community College and upon graduation was employed as a welder/mechanic with Baab Steel for a decade and then R.E. Monks Construction.
Bill loved the game of softball and played on the Merchants and Good Riddance Leagues until he was no longer physically able. It was often said his children were weaned on home plate because that is where you could always find him outside of work.
He is survived by his angelic wife of 41 years, Judy; his caring daughter, Sandra Dewar and significant other of Colorado Springs; his proud son Robert Dewar and significant other of Monument, Colorado; two doting sisters, Linda Larsen, Monument, Colorado; and Patricia Mirehouse, Colorado Springs; four nieces, two great-nieces, four great-nephews; and the compassionate staff at the Union Printers Home.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Bill never complained and if asked he was always "good." Those fortunate to have known him cherish the memory of his quiet strength, tolerance, patience, kind heart, and gentle soul. Semper Fi, Bill, play ball until we meet again.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors officiated by Sandy & Bob Dewar, will be held at 11AM on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd. with a reception immediately following at the same location.
Memorials may be made in Bill's honor to the Union Printers Home, 101 South Union Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910 (719-634-3711)

Dad,
I miss you daily.
I am SO happy that you are free of that which held you here for the time it did.
Where you were no longer able to walk, you now are flying.
Where you were barely able to speak,
you are now guiding...watching over each & every one of us. (Lucky us to have, yet another Angel!)
Forever, you will be in my heart & the very core of my thoughts.
I love you Dad!
