Patricia League Obituary

Pat League was born in Duluth, Minnesota - the oldest child of the late Larry S. Gordon and Patricia Gordon. At the age of 12, her family moved to the Minneapolis area. In 1967 she graduated from St. Margaret's Academy. In the fall of that year Pat came to Colorado Springs for the first time, to attend Colorado College; she graduated in 1971 with a BA in Business Administration. After living in the Midwest for four years, she returned to Colorado Springs, where she lived for the rest of her life. Her beautiful daughter, Amanda, was born April 29, 1981. Pat married Dan League on June 28, 1985 and inherited four wonderful step-children: Mike, Burt, Brian and Suzy. Pat worked for many years in public and private accounting, but after she and Dan were married they were able to travel and she became a community volunteer. Among the organizations she enjoyed helping were the Colorado Springs Symphony with their first Radiothon; KTRC's Board of Directors; The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Performing Arts Committee; and her first love, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. She was on the Board of Directors for four terms and chaired the Board and Capital Campaign when the African Rift Valley exhibit opened. Pat loved the outdoors and at one point was an avid golfer and when able, loved taking her dogs for walks. She also loved reading and staying in touch with her many cousins all over the country. Since 2011 the twinkle in her eye has been caused by her wonderful grandson, Davis. In January, her second grandson Emmett was born. Since they live in Denver, she was able to see them frequently and they brightened her life in so many ways. Pat is survived by her husband, Dan, her daughter, Amanda, and her husband, Jason, and their sons, Davis and Emmett. Her step-children and spouses: Mike (Anne) League of Colorado Springs; Burt League of Mineral Wells, Texas; Stacey League of Aledo, Texas; Brian (Candita) League of Pasadena, CA and Suzy (Kevin) Christian of Stillwell, KS. She is also survived by her mother, Pat Gordon of Minneapolis, MN; Her siblings and spouses: Larry (Cindy) Gordon of Colorado Springs; Jeanne (Tim) Dietz of Golden, CO and Elizabeth (Rob) Ramstad of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by countless cousins and five nieces and nephews and her big brown dog, Gus. She was preceded in death by her dad, Larry S. Gordon, and her other two favorite dogs, Chauncey and Fletcher. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Shove Chapel, 1010 N. Nevada Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, 4250 Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906.

Amanda, I am so sorry to read of your mother's passing; she was a brave and courageous lady and I so admired her. As she passed by my house, she often stopped and we talked about you and all your accomplishments. She was so proud of you and loved you dearly.... God Bless, Leslie Bois

Our family is sorry for your loss. It is hard to go through this difficult time, but it's good to know that we keep in our heart all the good moments, love, and care that we share with our loved ones. Romans 8:38, 39 says that nothing …. not even death is be able to separate us from God's love.

My deepest sympathy to Pat's family. I had the joy of being in Tenney House at CC sophomore year, with "Gorts" and her three roommates across the hall. We shared so many laughs, and bridge games too. Pat always made our CC reunions fun, with several class dinners at the zoo. I will miss knowing she's around, and miss her friendly smile. She leaves big shoes to fill, and a legacy of good work and loving family.
