Hazel Hall Obituary

Hazel Scott Hall, 95, died on Saturday, March 2 at Pikes Peak Hospice. She was born Mary Hazel Scott on October 1, 1917 in Aberdeen, Mississippi to Oliver Otho Scott and Ethel Mann Scott. She graduated from Eupora High School in Eupora, Mississippi and earned an Associate's degree from Sunflower Junior College in Moorhead, Mississippi. In 1945 she married Charles Brandon Hall, Jr. in a ceremony at her parents' home in Eupora, and after the war, they settled there to start a radio sales and service business. In 1951, they moved to Seminole, Florida and built a television sales and service business, selling it in 1981 while concurrently building a second business in lapidary supplies. For both businesses, she worked as bookkeeper and administrator. In semi-retirement in the 1980s, she and Brandon took many trips across and around the country, as well as overseas to India, Taiwan, Brazil and other exotic locations. In 1992, Hazel and Brandon moved to Cañon City, Colorado. In 2010, she moved to Colorado Springs. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Brandon, who died in 1998. She is survived by her three children: Marty (Mike) Rutan of Penrose, Colorado, Charlie (Marianne) Hall of Colorado Springs and Van (Anita) Hall of Chesapeake, Virginia. She had six grandchildren: Rachael, Chad, Brandon, Katie, Nicole and Maria, as well as three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 7 at Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Avenue in Colorado Springs. So sorry to hear about your mother. We enjoyed meeting Hazel and getting to know her a bit. I remember going to the "Taste of Home" cooking event with your Mom and Flo; and the many times she was at Canon Rose. Also enjoyed a visit or two at her home. She was a special lady.

I saw the pictures of your family and read Hazel's Obit. I am sending a memorial Colorado Talking Book Library in her memory. Very nice write-up.

Hazel was a very special person with a very unique personality. It was an honour to have met her.
