George LeRoy Bybee, 81, passed away on March 15, 2013 in Hillsboro, Oregon. George was born on June 25, 1931 in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska to the late George S. and Velma (Horn) Bybee. After graduating high school, George enlisted in the United States Army and served his country proudly for over twenty years. He married the love of his life, Doris Brueck on April 30, 1955 in Germany. Following discharge from the military, George worked civil service at Fort Carson until retirement. In his free time, George enjoyed fishing, traveling, golfing and gambling; especially Keno. George was an outgoing man. He loved people and spending time with his family. George is survived by two sons: Ken (Diane) Bybee of Phoenix, AZ and Leslie (Jan) Bybee of Morgantown, GA; two daughters: Patty (Chris) Hansen and Karen (Jeff) Howard of Colorado Springs; nine grandchildren: Justin and Kristina Bybee, Ian (Anne), Isaac and Jacob Wilson, Melissa Hansen, Chasity Warriax, and Jamie and Kyle Howard. He is also survived by six great grandchildren: Mikayla and Maya Warriax, Mark Macias, Riley Kelley, Leland Howard and Connor Braxton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris; two sisters: Marva and Maxine and two grandchildren: Kenneth J. Bybee and Timothy J. Bybee. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Opa was a wonderful man who was full of life, and always had a warm smile. He had such wonderfully funny and amusing stories to tell every time I would speak with him. He is loved, fondly remembered and will be greatly missed by Jacob and myself.
