L D. I was the rookie at the breakfast table with Henry at Evans Army Hospital dining facility. You treated me with respect even though I was retired Air Force, watched Fox news, and voted for Bush. I'll always be grateful for that. Breakfast will never be the same now that you're gone. You'll be missed by all who you touched every morning. You had a heart of gold, and spoke of your children affectionally. I never once heard a foul word from you about anyone. However, when you spoke, people listened. God put you in the path of many for a reason. May you rest in peace, and watch over all loved and admired you.

There are not enough words. He was a big man with a big heart. No family function was complete without him. Going to the park and laughing, eating, playing and enjoying being together as a family. Having breakfast and eating his delicious salmon patties. Driving around in the "murder wagon" on hot summer days. Watching him take pictures of all his grandkids and kids. Teaching everyone the meaning of life and what is wrong and right in the world. I know I was not there to say good bye, but he will always be a part of my memory. Rest in Peace L.D., Rest in Peace. You will be missed.??

My Condolence To the Harris Family. L.D and my late husband James Warren was close friends for 23 years. They always met every morning at The Evans dinning room. They called their group the breakfast Club. I think he was the last member standing. They always took care of each other. He will be Missed. He is now reunited with his breakfast club member in heaven.

Mr. Harris was by far one of my favorite people to see when I would go to work. I've been working at Evans for 10 years in Nutrition Care. I started there when I was twenty so I've always been "baby girl". He has been checking on me 6 days a week that whole time. He's watched me grow up. When I got married he wished me luck. He saw me pregnant with all three of my children. He even recently gave me advice on how to save money for my childrens' college educations. He was always making sure I was doing well with school and encouraged me to do great things. He will be missed dearly. Thoughts and prayers for his family. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful man with us all.

Mr. Harris has been coming to Evans Army Community Hospital for at least the 22 years I have been there. Longer, I'm sure. He came in for breakfast 6 days a week for all those years. He became an icon for the hospital. Everyone, I mean everyone knew him-from the commander on down to the people in the dining facility. If you took your break, you knew you could go sit with Mr. Harris and his partner Henry. Mr. Harris knew everyone by their name. He wore many hats. If you wanted funny stories about his adventures in the military, he had them. If you needed an ear, he was there. I was a patient myself at Evans twice and Mr. Harris made his way up there to visit with me. It was a comfort to see him there. If he could huff and puff his way with his walker wherever he needed to go, well, I guess I didn't ever have problems. I am very proud to have known this wonderful man for all these years. He cared about everyone. He always asked how my husband was or how my dad was. We are going to miss this icon, this wonderful man and true blue SOLDIER. He made a lot of friends-he really did. To his family, just know that we all who knew him, he was also our family at Evans. I know I am gonna miss him and I know a lot of other people will too. I love you Mr. Harris. Love, Vicky from Nutrition Care.
