Toby Abila has been called to heaven at the age of 86. Toby peacefully passed away on July 2, 2012 surrounded by family. Toby will be lovingly missed by his son, Vern (Tammy) Abila; daughters: Barbara Wieker, Virginia (Ira) Lapp, Bernice Leonard, Debbie (Tim) Hellweg; sister, Antonisa Santistevan; brothers: David Abila of Colorado Springs, and Sergio Abila of Red Wing, Colorado; grandchildren, who were the light of his life: Brad (Allison) Wieker, Stephanie (Marcos) Vasquez, Justin (Roslyn) De La Fuente, Casey Leonard, Toby Leonard, and Ashley Hellweg; and six great-grandchildren: Bella, Jennifer and Devin Vasquez, Brad and Luke Wieker, and Tyce De La Fuente. Toby was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Abila; his daughter, Anita Marie Abila; his parents, Porfirio and Benidicta Abila; and brothers: Gilbert, Tony, Walter, Gene, William, Ben and Thomas. Toby loved spending time with family, being outdoors, fishing and working in his yard, which gave him pleasure and pride. Toby had a great sense of humor and playfulness that will be greatly missed. We have all experienced Dad's gift of uncompromising love and joy for life. We would like to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude for the loving care and support from Odyssey Hospice, Laura, Vicky, Jessica, Kathy, Colleen and Chaplain Mike. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Reception will follow immediately at the Olympian Plaza, 975 South Union Boulevard.
