James Harold Heiser, age 68, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1981, passed away suddenly on December 1, 2012 at a local hospital. He had retired after 20 years with the United States Air Force and then worked for Martin Marietta, later Lockheed Martin Corporation. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. James was born on February 20, 1944 in Colorado Springs to the late James Willard and Edith Elizabeth (Burke) Heiser. After high school, he joined the Air Force. He married Betty Ann Campbell on August 1, 1964 in Colorado Springs. Together they raised a family and traveled with the Air Force. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, and books by Louis L'Amour. He is survived by his wife, Betty; and his daughters: Rosemary (husband, Larry) Hull of Colorado Springs; Cheryl Callahan of Colorado Springs; Karen (husband, William) Saunders of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire; and Deborah Heiser (and Jason Kane) of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (wife, Cindy) Heiser of Barstow, California; and three sisters: Ann (husband, James) Sanderson of Union, Mississippi; Barbara (husband, Phil) Hardwick of Aurora, Colorado; and Darlene (husband, Roy) Killens of Union, Mississippi. He is also survived by twelve wonderful grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service with Air Force Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel.
