David Aldridge Obituary

David Paul Aldridge, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died unexpectedly on December 21, 2012 while he was running - one of his favorite things to do. Dave was born April 22, 1973, in Prescott, Ariz. He graduated from Pagosa Springs High School in 1991 and Oklahoma Baptist University in 1995. But he was more proud of the titles “husbandâ€ and “daddy.â€ His passions were his family, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the great outdoors of Colorado. He loved climbing, skiing, camping, and fishing, and had summited all 54 of Colorado's “14ers,â€ peaks reaching 14,000 feet and above. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Headwaters class. Dave was known for his servant's heart: he was always doing for othersâ€"family, friends, clients and even strangers benefitted from his desire to support and encourage. His friends and family are committed to making sure his young children grow up knowing how special their dad was, and how he had hope in Christ as he dreamed and prayed for them. I didnt know David, but being a runner and having the name David Paul, looks like we had more in common than I thought. I can only imaging the pain associated with loosing such a great soul. David's legacy will be the warmth and happiness you feel when a memory of him appears. Smile and look up...... knowing he is in great hands.

Dearest Holly, Spencer, Leah and Maci-

I was unable to come to the services but thought of you all day and have everyday since the sad news of Dave's passing. I was with my Aunt Cherry in a nursing home. She is in her late 80s and most of the people looked so sad a lonely. While I don't understand why Dave had to go so early in life there is a small amount of peace knowing he left smiling and loving life. I am likely to fumble on words so will leave it at that and will be there to help you and the kids in the months and years to come. While I am just a neighbor that drops mystery items at your door I will now be a runner of errands, walker of dog, someone to sit in silence (or not) with you and your children. I am at your service to honor Dave and his beautiful family.

It is still hard to believe that Dave is no longer with us. I had the pleasure of working with Dave at Memorial. He was a kind and confident leader. I will always remember skiing together down the bumps of A-Basin, swapping powder stories and of course looking at the weather and snow reports. He was most proud and excited when teaching Spencer to ski and taking him up to Copper. He will truly be missed in the mountains of Colorado. All my prayers, thoughts and love to Holly and family; may you find comfort in your memories during this difficult time.

Holly, it was truly a blessing having Dave as our Rehab Manager over the past few years. I loved the fact that Dave always demonstrated a calm demeanor and a sense of strength when times were stressfull. I believe this was due to his close walk with Christ. He also always had a sense of joy in all he did. What a great testimony of Christ his life was! I have prayed and will continue to pray for you and the children. May God hold all of you in His loving arms right now. God's sweet peace be with you Holly. With love in Christ,

I was shocked and especially saddened to hear of Dave's passing. I had the privilege of working with Dave for 5 years at Memorial Hospital on the Rehab unit. I am David Unruh's mother and I just read of your tragic loss. I too lost my father to heart attack when I was three. My mother always told me stories of how great my dad was and I treasure those words. I am now 70 years old and look forward to meeting him in heaven. I know he will be there waiting for me. Please do the same for your children when you feel ready. They will treasure your words in the years to come. May you feel the strength of God during these difficult days.

Holly, our hearts are broken for you. We knew your sweet Dave primarily through Chuck and Annie, but always heard him spoken of in that way that favorite friends always are. We are glad we often saw him on our visits to Colorado. I can't begin to imagine the sense of loss that you, your little ones, Dave's parents, and all who loved him best must feel. Physically he is gone, but his influence is bound to live on in wonderful ways. What an incredible life he lived, and it was no doubt more special because you and the children were such a huge part of it. Our prayers have been with you ever since we heard the news, and they will not cease. May God soothe your heart as only He can.
