B. Dean Jantzen, 86, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2013. He was born on the family farm in Hull, Iowa on February 15, 1927 to Rudy and Dorothy (Visser) Jantzen. He grew up in Hull until the family moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa in 1939. He graduated from Rock Rapids High School. He was a World War II veteran. Dean started golfing as a young boy with his dad using wooden clubs. When he broke those, his dad bought him some of the more expensive ones at which time he became quite the golfer. He won many tournaments throughout his lifetime. He golfed until he was 81 and had four hole-in-ones. In 1950, Dean married the love of his life, Marilyn Jean Jantzen, who preceded him in death, July 11, 2012. They were married almost 62 years. They made their home in Rock Rapids, where Dean worked for his dad at Kooiker Chevrolet. In 1958, they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where Dean and his dad owned two laundrymats. In 1971, Dean and his family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where Dean was in real estate for the next 30 years. They also had a winter home in Sun City, Arizona and moved there full time in 2000. They returned to Colorado Springs in 2011. Through the years, Dean enjoyed golf, bridge, poker, puzzles, all sports on t.v., and attending his all class reunion every year. Grateful for having shared his life are his two children Jill and Joel Jantzen of Colorado Springs, grandchildren Amy Miller Johnson (Jary) of Castle Rock, Julia Gross Maddox and Nicholas Jantzen of Colorado Springs and five great-grandchildren. Please join us for a Celebration of Life at The Elks Lodge 309, 3400 N. Nevada Avenue on Sunday, April 28 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Memorial contributions can be made to Pikes Peak Hospice or the Elks Lodge 309 Special Projects. Blessed be his memory. Our Loss, Heaven's Gain

Jill, it is so hard loosing a parent, much less 2 in such a short time. You were o fortunate to have had the last 9 months with him and being as close ar you were. I don' kno what he would have done without you. I know he appreciated and enjoyed everything you did and times you shared.

Dear Dad...
Well it has been one month yesterday since you've been gone...My life has forever changed and I am deeply saddened every day...I was still crying over losing my Mom, and now 9 months and 2 days later I lose my Dad...Oh My... What a lot to take in... The comfort I do have is that you and Mom are together once again after 62 years...I miss our time at the Elks and our Monday Bingo and all the time we spent together the last 9 months... I am also thankfull for the time I had with you and Mom since you moved back here...
I love and miss you both very much...
Keep my seat warm...

Dear Joel and Jill,
So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I have such fond memories of your parents coming over to our house in the Broadmoor when I was growing up. They both had such a great sense of humor and loved life. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve during this difficult time. God's Blessings.

Jill, my sympathy, thoughts and prayers are extended to you and your family. If your recall, I was inducted into the Elks the same night you were. During our short time I had a chance to revisit the old days when your Dad was a frequent visitor to Patty Jewett where i first met him. Take Care
