Kay Craddock Obituary

Kay Craddock, age 73, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1978 and formerly of Canon City, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at her home in Colorado Springs. She was a prized executive assistant for several companies in the Southwest and Washington D.C. areas, and had formerly been an Army wife with postings across the United States. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. But most of all Kay was an adventurer, a person who loved life, and a soul of creation and imagination. Kay Isabel Craddock was born February 23, 1939 in Pueblo, Colorado. Her parents were the late Luther and Margaret Craddock. She was a graduate of Canon City High School who enjoyed her friends, her family, and the wonder of the world around her. Kay was a force that could not be bound. She was ever the optimist, the fighter, a person who cared deeply for those who shared her life. She was a woman that could find magic in the smallest things, and enlighten even the most stalwart skeptic to beauty in the universe. She read voraciously, and could draw you into her readings at will, catching your imagination with vision and description. She is survived by a family who loves her deeply, her son: Scott Menoher; three brothers: Berry Craddock, Roy and Joe Rall; her sister: Mary Lu Kaiser; numerous nieces and nephews; and three wonderful grandchildren: Delaney, Colleen, and Aidan. But more central to who Kay was were the myriad souls that she touched, the thousands of friends and acquaintances whose lives she brightened. Because she was that brilliant and shining star, she came into our lives and shone with unmatched radiance, and we all loved her for it. Kay was a light in the darkness, and will be sorely missed. We love you Mom. Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Memorials in Kay's name may be made to the Fisher House Foundation Inc., 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850-5168. www.fisherhouse.org/donate/ Online Condolences: ShrineOfRemembrance.com

I remember Kay when she lived in Canon City. Her Dad and I graduated together and he worked for my dad at our grocery (Bourne) store. I remember the younger kids coming into the store. She certainly grew up to be an amazing woman, I know her family loved her and will miss her tremendously. Our prayers go out to her family.
