James (Jim) E. Browne, age 86, a resident of Colorado Springs for 40 years, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012 in the presence of his loving family. He served 24 years in the United States Army and performed 2 one year tours-of-duty in Viet Nam. After retirement from the Army in 1974, James worked 14 years as a construction planner for Denver Equipment/Joy manufacturing in Colorado Springs.

James Enoch Browne was born on January 12, 1926 in Southbend, Indiana to the late Joseph D. and Alice (Hartley) Browne. James Married Phyllis Darlene Dyson on February 3, 1950 in Portland, Indiana. Jim was drafted into the Army soon after and spent may years traveling with his devoted bride and spent a few years in Texas and five years enjoying Germany and Europe. They returned to the U.S. and Jim and Phyllis started a family in Wisconsin in 1962. Jim enjoyed camping with his family. He especially Loved spending time with his grandchildren. He became a very avid bowler at Brunswick Circle Lanes the last 30 years of his life.

James is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Phyllis Browne; his devoted son, Joseph Browne; daughter-in-law, Teresa Browne; and four grandchildren, Joshua, Derek, Dennison and Isabelle.

Memorial Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Open Bible Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in James name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Open Bible Medical Clinic.
