Ray Medina Obituary

Ray Medina, age 66, longtime resident of Colorado Springs went home to be with the Lord on December 21, 2012. He was born August 28, 1946 in Alamosa, Colorado to John and Susan (Aragon) Medina who preceded him in death. Ray was married to his loving wife, Annabelle for 45 years, who also preceded him in death on June 23, 2011. They had one child, Lori Medina (Marc) from Denver, Colorado. Ray is also survived by one sister, Patricia Bernal (John) from Pueblo, CO; two grandchildren, Desiree Delgado and Marcus Cable, both from Denver, CO; two great grandchildren, Angelina and Natalia Delgado. Ray began his career at Mountain Bell in Colorado Springs, then worked for District II Schools at Whittier Elementary and was currently employed by King Soopers on the Westside. Ray was described as a 'ray of sunshine', full of life, and loved by all. In his spare time, Ray enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. His last wish was for everyone to know he was going to spend eternal happiness with his wife, Annabelle, in peace. Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80904. Memories and Condolences
for Ray Medina

Not sure what to say?

To Ray's family: I wanted to share a typical act of kindness from Ray. I work next to the King Soopers where Ray worked and early one morning during a snowy day last year I needed gas and windshield wiper fluid. It was a bitterly cold and windy day. I came up to the little booth at the pumps to purchase the washer fluid and Ray suddenly appeared at my side insisting I wait in the car because it was so cold while he filled up my washer fluid. He was a special man and I was always happy to see his smiling face in my line at the bank to help him. And yes, that wink! Ray, you are missed. Thanks to his family for sharing him with us.

I knew Ray Medina when I worked at Whittier Elementary, as the Principal's Secretary. We became very good friends. He was so sweet - so kind - so gentle - ALWAYS willing to assist in any way he could.......... He would light up a room or an auditorium or a lunchroom!!!!! Everyone LOVED Ray!!!! He was a JOY to be around....... He was so proud of his family, his daugthter, Lori (who was beautiful, like her dad!) and his grand daughter, Desiree. When she attended Whittier, Ray hung out there.... I can still see that smile - still feel those bear-hugs and still smell that signature cologne...... Thank you Ray - for everything - mostly for showing love and kindness to so many....... May you rest in peace with the Lord..........

Ray, I will miss you dearly my friend. I remember the great times we had as children growing up in Alamosa. Now, my friend you are finally at peace. To Ray's family and friends: In your time of sorrow and grief my family will keep you in our prayers. Ray was a good man and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know him. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Lori,
I am so sorry, my heart aches for you, I got to visit with your dad at Kingsoopers this past summer, he was such a gentle man and told me how much he missed your mom. Your beautiful mom was one of our dearest friends when we were growing up in San Luis. I used to visit her often when she worked at Kmart... I know how very much it hurts to loose someone you love so dearly. You will be in my prayers. Your parents are now happy together, so please think of all the great memories. God is good and he will strengthen you, lean on him for strength. God bless you and your family.

The beauty of his smile,
The twinkle in his eyes,
You always felt his love as he winked at you!!!
He always brought light into the room, we laughed we smiled we talked for hours. Everywhere we went he knew someone I loved how he was so friendly and brought smiles to everyone, because of this I named my daughter exactly as my uncle I wanted her to have his beauty “ His Ray of sunshine!!!!” I know that he is right by our side guiding us shining on us.
The lord has blessed me to see my beautiful uncle Ray in my daughter everyday,
that beautiful smile, the twinkle in the eyes and the friendly compassionate person.
God Bless Uncle Ray and the family

Love you Uncle Ray,

Rita
