Donald Grant Obituary

Donald "Donnie" James Grant, 47, left us suddenly on February 24, 2013. Born on March 29, 1965, Donnie spent most of his growing up years here in Colorado Springs enjoying all his friends at Wasson High School. He was an avid sportsman, but his favorite was golf but his true love was fishing at the family island on Burntside Lake in Northern Minnesota. This is where a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Donnie had a great sense of humor, unlimited energy and a caring spirit. Everyone who knew him was uplifted by his humor, quick wit and contagious laughter. He had a genuine love for people. Donnie is survived by his mother Ginny Grant, two sisters Kim Grant and Diane Bertagni, brother Thom Grant and one delightful niece Haley Rundle. He is preceded in death by his father Jamie Grant. Our hearts are broken but you now have peace and comfort and we have many warm and wonderful memories. We love you Donnie, and will always miss you.

Memories and Condolences
for Donald Grant

Not sure what to say?

I didn't see it at the time as a kid growing up with the Racquet Club crew, but looking back I realize Donnie had a big heart and would go out of his way to include EVERYONE in the group. A rare attribute for someone that age. He will be missed! Grant family - my prayers are for you.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Donnie passing on. Don as I called him, was a gentle soul. He was the first I met at Aud. I remember playing soccer at recess, I knew nothing about soccer, well ball went out of bounds, I thru it in the "mix" like a football. Of course everyone fell down laughing, doh I was from western KS, but Don looked down and grinned and said hey man that's a "sick bird" throw in. I looked at him and thought what? Then he grinned again and said ill-eagle. To this day if I hear sick bird or well illegal I always pictured Don in my mind. Donnie was always a good sport, if he won or lost he just was never mean. Another great memory is as the Aud. Toros I was goalie and it was windy as hell, we were down 10-1 at half , I told Donnie and Phil we only need 11 to win, since wind was on our side. Don said np just 11, and grinned. Well we/ he covered that.
I don't know the why or how's but a man with character lives forever, Donnie had plenty. We all meet in the end. Way too young, peace my friend. I picked a star in heaven so when I look up, I see your brilliance shining down.

With Deepest Sympathy. I am so sad to hear of Donnie's passing. He truly was one of a kind. His laughter and presence made everyone feel welcome and glad to be there. He was a great sportsman who appreciated and loved the games as well as having fun playing them. As all of you know he will be deeply missed. I know he is smiling down and ready to poke fun at all of our quirks.

Mrs. Grant, Diane, Kim and Thom,
I was so sad to hear about Donnie! He was definitely one of a kind! His laughter and goofiness always kept a smile on my face. I know that this is a very difficult time for all of you but please keep in mind that the memories are always there to comfort you. Unfortunately I know this because 5 years ago I lost my brother as well. Time truly heals the pain. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
