Jim Leazer was called home to be with the Lord on April 10, 2014. He was born to Guy and Edith Leazer on June 21, 1932 in Lee County, Iowa. He was raised on a farm and was one of 12 siblings.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Jim married Ferris Bull, his high school sweetheart, on December 20, 1952. He graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL., in Horology as a master watchmaker. He owned and operated Leazer's Jewelry, in Loveland, Colorado for nearly 30 years.
He and Ferris moved to Monument in 2000 and resided there 14 years. He was a dedicated father and fun grandpa. Attending yearly family reunions in Iowa and weekly phone calls kept him close to family members. He was a skilled woodworker. He made numerous intricate toys, beautiful shelves and jewelry boxes, airplanes and clocks. After retiring, he continued repairing clocks and watches until he was 80 years old.
He loved the beauty of Colorado, playing horseshoes and a good practical joke. Jim passed away after a difficult battle with cancer.
In keeping with his wishes, Jim will be cremated and the ashes will be buried in the family plot in Iowa.
Jim is survived by his four daughters: Robin (Vernon) Smith of Colorado Springs, CO.; Laurel Leazer of Albuquerque, NM; Anita (Bill) Sleigh of Parks, NE; and Melissa (Scott) Rouse of Bremerton, WA; his nine grandchildren Matthew (Josie) Smith, Nathan Smith, Anne Leazer, Joshua (Maggie) Sleigh, Bekah (Eric) Allen, Kathryn Sleigh, Carlie, Quincy, and Holly Rouse; and one great granddaughter, Hannah, and one sister Susie Dailey, and five brothers, Garold, Harold, Floyd, Leron, and Jerry Leazer.
