Nancy was a very special woman dearly loved by family and friends. She was accomplished in the culinary arts and handicrafts. She enjoyed travel and the outdoors. Nancy inspired many with her courage and good nature during her 2 ½ year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Nancy graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor's degree in Archeology. She worked for Safetran/Econolite from 1987 to 2011. I met Nancy on the day I moved into the apartment across the hall. I knew right away that we would become friends. Nancy and I both loved crafts and spent more than one Saturday cruising through a crafts fair. When I went to Hong Kong for three weeks I could hardly wait to get home and tell Nancy all about it. Nancy was the kind of friend you could call at any hour, day or night, and she would be there to help. Nancy was always quick with a hug, word of encouragement or just a sounding board.

Nancy, I miss you terribly but I believe you are in a wonderful place. You are probably lolligagging on a cloud in heaven and just soaking up the sunshine. I will see you again one day.

I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy as she was losing her ability to speak. I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist and spent time with her setting up and tweaking her communication device. We spent time together chatting, laughing and sharing stories. Nancy and I programmed messages into her device that she used to tease her wonderful husband, Dave. One day she asked me to open a chest that was near her. Insider, there were many of her keepsakes---she had me read some old pictures, scrapbooks, and autograph books that dated back to when she was a girl. In 20+ years of doing what I do--helping individuals maintain their ability to communicate---the day Nancy asked me to open, go thru and read to her some of the keepsakes in her chest--was a day that touched me to my core, and one that I will always remember. My heart goes out to Dave, Alice and the rest of the family. Fondly, jill

Nancy was one of the best friends I have had in my life. We were very close during the years we lived in Billings, Montana. I worked with Dave and met Nancy at an office party. Nancy and Dave and then Diane and Will Ouellette, along with my ex-husband, Jeff Bauer became close friends and shared many adventures together: camping, hiking, skiing, holidays. They were my "Montana" family. We had wonderful pot luck dinners and Nancy made the best brownies I have ever eaten! She was a good person who always had a kind word. Time and distance kept us apart but I will always feel grateful that Nancy and I were able to reconnect before she lost her ability to speak. As Diane said to me in a email, some people are forever friends, and Nancy was a forever friend to me. I will miss her. My sympathy and love go to Dave and her family.

Nancy and I met in 7th grade as two unknown people with no other friends in the Art Class, coming from two different elementary schools, and became best friends as we drew each other's portraits for the class assignment. Nancy and I were relieved to find another person who was gangly and tall, I think, but then the deeper meaning of friendship took over from there. Nancy was always cheerful and optimistic and enthusiastic to work on Pep Club sign-making projects and to stay after school joining clubs. She followed all the sports teams enthusiastically thruout our school years and was always loyal toward her friends and family. She helped raise her younger siblings and was always so proud of their accomplishments. I could not ever ask for a more loyal and dedicated friend and will miss her sweet smile and the twinkle in her blue-green eyes as she "told a joke" with her eye-reader when she was down with ALS. Nancy was not one to give up and kept her sense of humor and love of family during her illness. She still loved to get out in the fresh air, with Dave driving her thru the beaufiful C-Spgs scenery, as long as she was able. Nancy found a soul-mate in Dave, the kindest and most thoughtful man who toughed it out together thru the thick and thin of a wearing chronic illness with smiles and tears and humor shared with one another. Nancy's friends, family, and dear husband Dave were all so lucky to have known her these wonderful 60 years. May all try to go on with these fond memories of a dear dear lady, our dear Nancy K! My dear friend Nancy, I'm so very glad I saw you before you joined so many of our loved ones. I will never forget your smile as I told you of all my girls "life happenings". I cannot express how much we have and always will, miss you at all the parties for the kids. We were blessed to have you not only for my kids, but also the grandkids. You came all the way to Hillside to come to Randy and my wedding. Stood out in the cold in the mountains with the rest of us crazy people. Then you even drove my old Dad back to Colo Spgs. He said you drove pretty good for a woman haha! My kids and grandkids know you as Aunt Nancy. Every ball game they were sooo happy when they looked to the bleachers and saw you sitting there with us. When Macie was just 5 years old and Dave came to her t-ball game with you and I called her "sugar-butt" haha! You and I still laugh about that. I am so happy you and I got to be such honest, open, unconditional friends. You made our world a better place. My love and prayers with Dave your sisters and brother, and your pride and joy, Nicky. I'll love and miss my dear friend until I see you again and we will have a piece of birthday cake together. You were not just our friend, you will remain family to us.Forever, Karen, Randy, Casey, Jodi, Macie, and the grandkids.

Will and I will miss, our dear friend, Nancy. We will always cherish our good times in Billings, Montana with Nancy, Dave and the rest of our bunch. We explored the "wilds" of Montana and enjoyed many holidays together. Nancy helped me tackle my fear of driving the Beartooth highway switchbacks when we had to pick Dave and Will up after some of their marathon hikes. She helped a big city girl learn to rough it. Nancy, you will always be in my heart.

My friend, Nancy - good bye for now... God heard your prayer and now He has you in His company and now we here grieve our moments without you. I find comfort in knowing i will see you again one day... I am forever grateful for your friendship. I am thankful for your loving husband who you loved so much, and his example of unconditional, with how he cared for you. You worried so much for him, as he worried for you... What a wonderful gift you two were for each other. Dave, you have an extended family of crazy crafty women that are here for you, and as hard as it is to pick up the phone... PLEASE do... We miss her too and are here for you! Thank you Nancy for your humor, bravery, grace and example... My prayers for your family to find that peace beyond understanding. That "peace" is such a hard human thing to get, we all struggle with it at times.... Have faith... otherwise it doesn't make much sense without it... God Bless You !

Nancy will be missed terribly, she was such a sweet and wonderful woman with a great sense of adventure. I am so glad that she was able to make it out to our mountain house for a crafting retreat right before the ALS set in. As much as we all miss you, I take comfort in knowing that you are in God's wonderful hands and are no longer struggling with your body failing you. I treasure seeing you light up and smile at the Christmas tree we presented you this year, that memory will stay in my heart forever just like you. Dave, you will continue to be in my prayers and if you ever need anything please call me. You are such a wonderful husband with a great sense of humor. Love you both!

It's been quite a while since we've moved from Colorado Springs. The last time we spoke, Nancy had some health issues and was struggling with back problems. We're so sorry to hear about her battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. She was the sweetest, happiest, caring, giving, loving person. We met through Dave playing tennis with us, and cookouts and outings. She was a great support to the teams, and we had such a wonderful time pulling meals together; and playing games. Especially Pictionary! So many terrific times with greatest memories. Our love and prayers are sent to Dave and their extended families.

Nancy was such a loving and giving person. There wasn't a gathering that took place at Safetran that Nancy wasn't always giving of herself 100%.
She will be missed.

Nancy was one of the best people in our high-school class at Mapleton in north Denver. I always enjoyed seeing her at our reunions, and would have looked forward to seeing her again. I was heartbroken when I had heard she was afflicted with ALS, and again today when I learned of her passing. Our sincere condolences to her husband Dave and the rest of her family. She was taken from her loved ones and friends far too soon.
