Richard (Dick) passed away peacefully on October 9, 2013 in Colorado Springs.
He was born November 9, 1927 in Dewey, Oklahoma to Aaron and Irene (Robinson) DeWitt. The family moved to Colorado Springs in 1937. He served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946 on the USS Wasp.
On December 26, 1948, he married Barbara Eaton in Colorado Springs. He worked for Colorado Interstate Gas for 42 years, retiring in 1991. After retiring, he and Barbara moved back to Colorado Springs. He was actively involved with Wilson United Methodist Church, and considered the members of the church part of his family.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and Leslie and sister Stella Bilger.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, sons Rick (Karen) of Mooreland, Oklahoma, Rodney (Gayla) of Goodwell, Oklahoma, Ronald (Kim) of Katy, Texas, and Robin of Colorado Springs. Also survived by grandchildren Derrick DeWitt, Dalas Warr, Erin Case, Aaron DeWitt, Dylan DeWitt, Brian DeWitt, Shelby DeWitt, and 5 great grandchildren, Aaren and Arden Warr, Emma and Trapper Case, and Ella DeWitt. He is also survived by his brother Dale DeWitt, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was always very proud and thankful for his family.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Dick's life on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Wilson United Methodist Church, 6460 Flying W Ranch Road.
