George Francis Fritz Jr.

A Memorial Service for George F. Fritz, Jr. will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 927 North Logan Avenue. There will be a remembrance gathering at the church following the service. George F. Fritz, Jr. was born and raised in Durango, CO. He joined the Navy in 1943 and served onboard the USS Goshen until the end of WWII. After the war, he remained in the Naval Reserves and earned his Aviator's Wings. With 26 years in the Navy, George retired as a Lieutenant Commander and moved his family to Colorado Springs. He eventually joined Lockheed Martin, where he retired after 20 years. Through the years George never lost his connection with aviation but also enjoyed steam engine trains and the history of the Wild West. George is survived by Alice, his wife of 58 years; four children: David, Donald, Catherine and Christine; three grandchildren: Amber, Allysa and Emily; his brother, David and sister, Helen.
