Mary Elizabeth (Reese) Margraves passed away on January 30, 2014 at the Life Care Center of Colorado Springs following 2 years at the Pikes Peak Care Center. She was born on July 27, 1927 in Cedar City, MO to M. Lee and Nellie Mae Bartley.
She was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1946.
Mary is survived by one son Marvin E. Reese, (Demitta), 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son David R. Reese and companion of 25 years Charles Smith (Smitty).
Mary worked as a waitress and cashier at the Old Giuseppe's Restaurant downtown prior to the Depot and was the first black cashier in Colorado Springs at that time. She retired from the Marriott Corporation as housekeeper at Colorado College with over 30 years.
Visitation on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 5-8 pm at Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors, 1104 South Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, CO.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors, 1104 South Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, CO. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
