Claire Jeanne Liston was born in the panhandle town of Plainview, Texas on January 29, 1918. She died February 27, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jeanne grew up on a cotton farm and endured the worst of the dust bowl and depression years. She attended college at West Texas State University (now West Texas A&M) and Colorado State University, earning a degree in Library Science. Jeanne was inducted as a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority at CSU. She married Walter F. Liston (Lt. Col. USAF, retired) in 1942. He preceded her in death. Jeanne enjoyed the Air Force life as a pilot's wife and their assignments in the Philippines, England, Idaho, Mississippi, South Dakota and New Mexico. Walt and Jeanne moved to Colorado Springs in 1967 and Jeanne began her career as a school librarian at Horace Mann Middle School. Jeanne was a diehard Texan and loved to travel and play bridge. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, an avid reader of history and a great admirer of President Ronald Reagan. Jeanne is survived by her brother Gordon Branham, Ingram, TX, daughter Pamela Ann Ricks (William), Lexington, VA, son Larry G. Liston (Mary Ann), Colorado Springs, CO, and grandchildren Brian Watson, Marietta, GA, and Katarina Liston Schutt, New Haven, CT. Internment will be at Memorial Gardens, Colorado Springs, CO.
