Edwin A. Hartzell
Edwin A. Hartzell joined his beloved wife, Shirley Joan Hartzell in heaven on July 3, 2018.
Ed was born March 24, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA to Mable (Santmyer) Hartzell and Barney Jack Hartzell, both deceased.
Ed attended Claysville High School graduating in 1955. Ed worked most of his life for the Air Force Reserve and Civil Service 911th Airlift Wing at Greater Pittsburgh International Airport & 302nd Airlift Wing at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ed was a lifetime member of the American Legion 175 in Washington, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans local Chapter 26 Knob Hill.
Ed's loving wife, Joan, passed away October 15, 2014. Ed is survived by daughters Darla (Matt) Walden and Kim (Eddie) Portillos, Grandchildren, John Ayre, Erica Hicks, Step Grandchildren Ale, Malena, and Eddie Portillos, and Great Grandchildren, Jonah and Autumn Ayre. One sister survives, Marybelle Porter of Apache Junction, AZ. Also surviving are Sister-in-laws, Jean Murner and Patty Hartzell as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death are a sister, Sis (Ethel) Risor & brother Earl (Dude) Hartzell.
Friends will be received Friday, July 13, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Home, 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow West Finley Cemetery.
Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post #175.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local chapter of the American Legion or Stand Up To Cancer at SU2C.org
