Frank T. McClaflin
Frank T. McClaflin, age 85, passed away unexpectedly on September 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 7, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was one of 3 children born to Pastor William R. & Merle T. McClaflin. He spent most of his childhood in Winamac, Indiana. Upon graduation with music honors from Winamac High School, he then attended and graduated from the University of Miami in 1954 with a degree in music.
He met & married the love of his life, Patti in 1956 and they were wed for over 60 years, until her death on March 28, 2017.
Frank transitioned from the Navy into the Air Force and was stationed at the Air Force Academy in 1959. He was a Band Supply Sergeant & musician playing the French Horn & String Bass in the Air Force Academy Band. He started his own 5-piece band named "The Vagabonds" and played bass guitar. His group played at clubs and functions throughout the Colorado Springs & Denver area for over 20 years. He retired from the Air Force in 1976, and travelled extensively & spent a great deal of time in his beloved Arizona. He and Patti were longtime residents of the Pikes Peak area.
He loved music, animals, playing cards and travelling, but he loved being home with his family the most. He was a gracious and loving man with a tremendous & generous heart. His positive influence on his entire family was immense. He was an honorable man and his character was unreproachable. He loved laughter and playing pranks and he was cherished by all those who knew him. He will be sorely missed, but now he is reunited with God and the love of his life, Patti; as well as the loved ones that have preceded him.
He is survived by his 3 children, Martin (Suzanne) McClaflin, Karen (Jim) Strange, Kelly Bisbee, and son-in-law, Jim Bisbee; 8 Grandchildren, Travis (Laurina) Biggs, Sarah (Jon) Amoroso, Emily (Tim) Snell, Adam (Beth) Bisbee, Linda (Sam) Gray, Daniel Cruz (deceased), Timothy Cruz, Tabitha (Greer) Holec and 10 great-grandchildren and a host of wonderful nieces & nephews.
