George Bennett Johnson was born July 28, 1946 in Eola, Louisiana to the union of George Johnson and Octavia Christian.
George united with New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church on January 26, 2003; he was ordained a Deacon, and served faithfully until he received his crown in Glory.
Deacon Johnson is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Serena Johnson; two daughters, Susie Johnson McCoy and Elizabeth Johnson; one brother, Winston Charles Dossman; and his first wife, Ellen Marie Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, George C. Johnson, Anthony (Lisa) Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Tony Johnson, Jeffery Johnson, Bernard (Sabrina) Johnson, Sheila (Donald) Mortrud, William (Marybeth) Johnson, Stanley Johnson, Benita Johnson, Serena (Richard) Leahmon, Vanessa (Delvin) Willis, 29 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bessie C. Johnson; and special friends, Janet Murray and Jennett Murray and a daughter-in-law, Lisa (Steve) Bates; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 8th from 5pm-7pm at Angelus Chapel Funeral Home, 1104 S. Circle Dr. Colorado Springs, CO 80910. A Home Going Celebration will be Saturday, June 9th at 10am at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 5485 Alegre Dr., Fountain, CO 80817.
