Gertrude Bryant passed away on August 26, 2017, at her home in Colorado Springs, CO. She moved to Colorado Springs in 2013 to be near family after living the previous 50 years in San Antonio, TX.
Trudy was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 25, 1925. She was the daughter of Emanuel and Marie Kahler. She married Edward Bryant, Jr. on May 18, 1946 when he returned from duty after World War II. While living in Clovis, NM Edward was recalled to duty during the Korean War. The family moved frequently during the next 20 years before retiring in San Antonio. She enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies, playing bridge and traveling to visit her son and daughter's families.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Colonel Harold Kahler (MIA Laos 1969) and her sister, Shirley. Her husband of 71 years, Edward passed away in July. She is survived by her sister, Linda Ingham of Lincoln, NE; son Charles Bryant and wife Barbara of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Cathleen Bryant of Garden Grove, CA; grandson Andrew Bryant and wife Emily and great grandchildren Connor and Ellie of Colorado Springs; grandson Michael Bryant and wife Olivia and great grandchildren Edward and Vienna of Nashville, TN; granddaughter Chrystal Haith of Garden Grove, CA; one niece and three nephews.
Trudy and Edward Bryant will be laid to rest at the United States Air Force Academy cemetery on September 15th at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers please donate to the USO or the Gary Sinise Foundation.
