Irven "Chuck" Dunn
1929 - 2017
Irven (Chuck) Dunn, 87, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away September 7, 2017. He was born on December 24, 1929, in McComas, West Virginia. He joined the Army at a very young age during World War II and served in the Philippines and Germany. He moved to California where he met his wife, Sheila, and started a career with General Dynamics in San Diego. He finished his twenty-five years with General Dynamics as a Quality Control Engineer and was very proud of his participation in the first John Glenn Launch. He spent a year on the San Ysidro Border as a Customs Officer. Chuck and Sheila also owned and operated a Danish furniture store for 3 years.
After retiring, Chuck and his wife moved to Arizona and built a home there, enjoying an easy transition from the big city life. They made many friends there, but the heat and rural lifestyle prompted a move to Colorado Springs in 2000. Chuck and Sheila enjoyed RV'ing and traveled from Canada to Mexico. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. Chuck loved home and art projects, live entertainment, music and being involved with friends and family. He had a love of life, a happy infectious spirit, and always tried to bring a smile to all he knew.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Sheila of 54 years, daughters, Debra Lynn, Anita (Mark), grandchildren Nathan and Sarah, brothers-in-law, Steve (Lorraine), John (Paula) and Oakley, nieces Rachel and Jill and nephew, Stuart. He was predeceased by his son Eric.
A memorial service will be held at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church on Saturday, September 16th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the would be appreciated by the family.
