James Frederick Humphrey, 64, retired sales manager at Good Year's Tires Outlet Departed this life unexpectedly on February 25th, 2013 at Memorial Hospital. He was born November 14, 1948 in Dudley, N.C., To Ora Felecia Humphrey. His mother preceded him in death. James was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an usher under the leadership of Rev. James McMearn. James was united in holy matrimony with Sallie Mae (cook) Humphrey on February 11, 1971 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. James served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict attaining the distinguished rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded; The Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device, Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Army Commendation Medal, As well as other awards. He was also the original founder of "NABVETS" Organization in the Colorado Springs Region. He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife Sallie Mae Humphrey and children; Sean Humphrey, Stanley Williams and Delphine Williams; five grandchildren; two brothers Israel "Ricky" Atkins, Anthony Humphrey, sister; Sandra "Pete" Bourne, and a host of other relatives and loved ones. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Angelus Funeral Directors 1104 S. Circle Drive. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 following with Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m., New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 5485 Alegre Drive., Fountain Colorado. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
