Visitation will be held Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. 2017 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery for Margaret Rose Sargent Lewis of Delta Colorado, formerly of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Margaret was born July 3, 1921, in Seattle, Washington to Joseph Melvin Sargent and Margaret Jane Johnson Sargent, and passed from this life on July 30, 2017, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Margaret was preceded in passing by her husband of 75+ years, Lloyd Leslie Lewis, and her son, Dennis Lynn Lewis, her parents, a brother, Robert M. Sargent, and a sister Ruby.
Margaret is survived by a Sister-in-Law, Elaine Crow of Aurora, Colorado, and a Brother-in-Law, Howard Aab, of Perryville, Florida, several cousins and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret's Grandparents, Joseph and Elsie Sargent owned and ran the hotel at Sargent's Colorado and ran the toll booth at Marshall Pass Colorado for Otto Mears. The town of Sargent's at the west end of Monarch Pass in Colorado still carries the family name. The hotel building stood for many years as an exhibit at Buckskin Joe's near Canon City, Colorado.
Margaret was raised in Western Colorado where she met her husband, Lloyd, in 1938 in Olathe, Colorado. Margaret and Lloyd were married on December 24, 1940, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they made their home near Garden of the Gods, until 2015 when failing health led them back to Western Colorado to be near family members, Lindsey and Becki Lewis of Cedaredge, Colorado who were companions to Margaret and Lloyd in their final years.
Margaret was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs. Margaret and Lloyd were active in square dance, and spent many of their retirement years traveling across the North American Continent enjoying scenery and visiting with old friends and making many new ones everywhere they visited.

God has welcomed Margaret with open arms into heaven. She was a shining light. I moved to Colorado in 1985 and met her son Dennis a year later who became a very close friend to me. I have fond memories of enjoying fabulous meals that Margaret prepared, especially the trout that Lloyd caught. I'm from Alabama and being so far from home they made me feel like family. I returned to Alabama after Dennis's passing but kept in touch with them through the years. I could go on and on about Margaret and Lloyd, two of the best people I have been lucky enough to know. They are with God

Mom Lewis was a very beautiful and a lady of class. Mom and Dad Lewis's son Dennis was my best friend until the day of his passing. May she now be joined with Lloyd and Dennis Lewis and Dora their beloved dog. Always in my heart
