Martha Skelton Obituary

Martha Adams Skelton, a longtime Colorado Springs resident, passed away on June 15, 2013, at the age of 93. Martha, known to everyone as Bobbie, was born on October 3, 1919 in Tennile, Georgia to the late Owen and Virginia Adams. She taught high school history and American government in Hartwell, Georgia where she met her future husband of 65 years, Parke Skelton. During WWII she contributed by working in a fuse plant and by selling war bonds. Bobbie had a love of nature, horses and birds in particular, which she passed on to her children. This was equaled only by her genuine interest in people. She shared an interest in Big Band music and the hobby of amateur radio with her husband. Bobbie selflessly and lovingly devoted herself to raising her five children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Parke; a son, Richard Skelton; and a sister, Helen. She is survived by daughters, Victoria Skelton and Virginia Rodriguez (David); sons, Michael Skelton and Parke Kent Skelton (Alison Morgan); and by four grandchildren: Zora and Jasper Skelton and Joel and Maya Rodriguez. She will be greatly missed by her friends, former students and family. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Cheyenne Village, Inc., 6275 Lehman Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918 Online condolences at www.bluntmortuary.org.
