The son of the late Roy and Anna Burkholder, and late brother, Roy Burkholder, Rich was born on November 16, 1941 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and passed away January 20, 2013 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Rich served 20 years in the U.S. Army from 1960-1980 with continued government civil service leading the MAIT team at Fort Carson to assist the U.S. Army with heavy equipment maintenance training for several years after his military retirement. While serving our country, he received the Good Conduct Medal with 6th Oak Leaf Cluster, The National Defense Service Medal, The Korean Expeditionary Medal, The Army Commendation Medal and the Army Meritorious Service Medal. He served three 3-year tours in Germany, one year in Thule Greenland, one year in Korea, two tours at Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. While in Pa., he was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in North Middleton Township. He ventured back to Carlisle, Pennsylvania where he lived for many years before moving to Oklahoma in 2010 to live with his son, Rich and his family, so that they could care for him until he moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma where he resided at the Ardmore VA Center until he went to his eternal home in Heaven to be with The Lord. He was a loving Father and Grandfather of Son, Rich Jr. and his wife Elizabeth and their three children, Rachel, Hope and Bryce; son, Michael and his wife Kasey and their four children, Quenton, Mikayla, Kirsten, and Caden Blaze; son, Kenneth and his two children Anthony and Sarah; and Daughter Joanne and her husband Scott and their four children, Bobby, Jason, Ricky and Brittany. Cremation With Care under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial Services will be conducted by the family with close friends in Colorado Springs, Colorado in early summer, date TBA. Rich will be buried next to his brother in Waynesboro, Virginia with Military honors as he requested with date TBD.
