Robert Cook Obituary

Cook
Robert Charles Cook
August 3, 1934 - November 22, 2017
Robert Charles Cook "Bob", age 83, passed away on November 22, 2017. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, for more than 45 years. Bob was retired from the Army, a Machinist for Denver Equipment Company and a Quality Engineer/Inspector for Martin Marietta.
Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Charles R. Cook and Kathryn (Anderson) Cook. He married Yvonne S. Cook (Mahlum), in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on February 4, 1956.
He was a decorated Army Master Sergeant having served his country for more than 20 years. He fought in the Korean War for two years and in the Vietnam conflict for two years. His military decorations include the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, "V" Device Air Medal (2nd award), Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnamese Medal of Honor 2nd Class, Vietnamese Service Medal with 1 Silver Service Star and 2 Bronze Service Stars, 6 O/S Bars, 6 Good Conduct Medals, United Nations Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Combat Infantryman Badge, Civil Actions Medal First Class with OL Device, Meritorious Service Medal and numerous Marksman Awards.
Bob was an accomplished gunsmith who loved firearms, shooting sports, hunting and fishing. He regularly shot skeet and sporting clays at Isaac Walton and Quail Run while joking with all of his shooting partners (wood on wood Dad!). Yes, he had the "gift of gab" and a great sense of humor, which will be missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Yvonne; his children, Matt (Diane), Mark, Kristy, Craig; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn; father, Charles; sister, Donna Mann (Bob); and his four-legged friends whom he loved so much: Trapper, Skeeter, Dusty and Ginger.
A visitation will be held on November 29th at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910, beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed immediately by a Celebration of Life at 10:00 a.m.
A reception will follow at Fargo's Pizza, 2310 E. Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
