Ian Ramsay Obituary
Ian "Michael"Meredith Ramsay
March 3, 1930 - January 19, 2025
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Michael.
He was an adventurous young man and travelled to Europe and across the United States in his teens. He enjoyed talking about perilous hikes to the top of Grouse Mountain and skiing down with his trusted and much-loved dog, Sparkie.
Michael married Eleanor (nee Soole) in Vancouver in 1951. They went on to have five children and moved across Canada from BC to Ontario to Alberta, and finally settled in Surrey, BC. Michael and Eleanor retired to Pender Island and enjoyed wintering in Melaque, Mexico, where they built a small house and had a lively group of friends. After about 25 years, Michael and Eleanor moved to Tsawwassen, where they spent their remaining time together.
Mike's passion was gardening, and he grew beautiful flowers, which everyone enjoyed. He was also an avid woodworker.
Michael is survived by his children Susan, (Kayla and Lauren) and Stuart (wife, Jennifer and granddaughter Erin). Kelly's daughter, Nicole (husband, Gerry, and great-grandchildren, Carter and Asher). He is predeceased by his oldest daughter, Patti (2007), David (1953) and Kelly (1986) wife Eleanor (2018).
No service by request. Donations to the Cancer Agency are appreciated.
May you rest peacefully, Michael.
