Robert Fillion Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert at 71 years of age on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020. Beloved husband of 44 years to Cathy. Loving father to Nicole Croskery (Robert); David; André (Sheri-Lynn). Proud grandpa to Justus, Faith, Fortitude, Hope, Emily, and Charity. Dear brother to Suzanne (Clarence), Monique (Jeff), Shirley, Pauline, Dianne (Bob), Lawrence (Laurie), Angeline, and Tony (Tammy). Cherished brother-in-law to Maureen (Michael), Jim, Sheila (Bob), Eileen (Russell), John (Brigitte), and Michael (Catherine) as well as uncle to many nieces and nephews. Robert was a long time associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a proud canvasser during Poppy campaigns. As a parishioner of Assomption de Notre-Dame Parish, he coordinated meals on wheels (20 years), volunteered for St. Vincent's Kitchen (27 years), managed the parish's Comptoir du livre and was a member of the Chevaliers de Colomb Council 8549. Robert was a well-known and loved figure in the DCDSB, teaching French for 30 years and supply teaching for 18 years after retirement. He served as French Consultant and on many curriculum committees. Robert loved to coach sports and to instruct kids in his native language. He was a proud member of OECTA serving on the executive, many committees, and negotiating teams. He also volunteered many hours with the Durham Local Training Board. As a proud defender of his French Canadian heritage, Robert served as president and on many committees for ACFO as well as the COFRD. His sense of humour, joie de vivre, and great wisdom will be truly missed. We love you Robert! In memory of Robert, donations to Durham Outlook for the Needy (St. Vincent's Kitchen) would be appreciated.
