JACK RAYMOND TRAXLER

Jack Traxler passed away peacefully in hospice care in Dallas, Texas on November 8, 2018, just 52 days before his 100th birthday.
He was born on December 31, 1918 to Raymond and Louise (Gustafson) Traxler in Washington D.C. and was raised in Denver, CO shortly after WW 1. After graduating from North H.S., he attended the University of Denver majoring in accounting, while working in the automotive industry.
Jack was drafted into the Army in January 1941 and married his sweetheart Phyllis (Cheeseman) on Jan 9th, before leaving for basic training. Although drafted for 1 year, he served for over 4 years until the end of the war in 1945. He served at Fitzsimmons Hospital, and as a Staff Sergeant aboard the Army hospital ship Acadia stationed in Charleston, NC, where they transported wounded from Scotland and Italy back to the United States. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
Jack and Phyllis moved to Colorado Springs in 1946 and raised their six children. He was Office manager/partner of Wallace motors, the local Lincoln Mercury dealership for seventeen years. He was hired as Secretary/Treasurer of the Myron Stratton Home and remained until his retirement in 1981.
He became a Stephen's Minister at the First Presbyterian Church. The church he attended for 67 years, until he moved to Texas. Jack loved to play golf, and was an avid member of the Saturday Knights hiking club. Family was always first for Jack. He was always planning the next fun family adventure, reunion, or just a backyard BBQ. Jack was always gracious, thankful, and encouraging.
Jack and Phyllis were married for 51 years until her passing in 1992. He is also preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Carol (Cimino) in 1991, and youngest son, Richard in 2016. He is survived by Paul (Suzanne), Stanley (Jeanne), Douglas, & Linda MacCubbin (Ron), along with 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. They lived, grew up and thrived on Tejon street north of CC, where Dad lived for 60 years.
A Celebration of Life memorial will be held on December 31st, his 100th birthday, at the First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou at 1 PM. Donations in lieu of flowers, can be made to Alzheimer's Association, or the Music Department at the First Presbyterian Church.
