Kay Ellen Boehm, 78, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on July 13, 1947, in Wauseon, Ohio, to the late Vern and Elizabeth (Cooper) Shambarger. Kay was a 1965 graduate of Holgate High School.
On Aug. 29, 1966, she married the love of her life, George William Boehm, at the United Methodist Church in Holgate, Ohio.
Kay devoted over 25 years of service to the City of Napoleon, working in the billing department. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon, where she served on the Altar Guild Committee. Her strong faith guided her life, and she found joy in serving the Lord.
Kay cherished time with her family and friends, often hosting gatherings that brought everyone together. Above all, her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren. She rarely missed an event or activity and was their biggest supporter. Her love for them was endless.
Kay is survived by her husband, George; sons, James Michael Boehm and Brian Eugene (Shelly) Boehm; grandchildren, Karly (Joshua) Prephan and Kody (Andrea) Boehm; and Makenna and Makayla Boehm; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Weston Prephan, and Olivia Boehm; siblings, Jim (Connie) Shambarger and Jean Steele; and her beloved dog, Lucy.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, Ohio, and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or CHP Inpatient Hospice.
