Albert DeCasperis, Jr. Obituary

Albert R. DeCasperis Jr. passed away Sunday June 23, 2024 at the age of 86 at his daughter’s home in Brick, New Jersey.

Albert was a resident of New York City all his life. He was born, raised, and started a family in Brooklyn, and later moved to Staten Island. Music was always very important to him. As a teenager he cut a record, and as a young father he sometimes entertained his children by singing to them. Albert served in the Army as sergeant from 1957 to 1963. He also had a career in data processing operations, and helped to roll out some of the very first ATMs nationwide. Later in life he became a very skilled baker, making many of his mother’s traditional Italian recipes after she fell ill.

He was a lifelong fan of New York sports, cheering on the Brooklyn Dodgers in his youth and the New York Mets and Giants throughout his adult years. One of his favorite hobbies was watching movies. Albert enjoyed the little moments with his wife; going shopping and sharing doughnuts was a favorite pastime of theirs.

Albert is predeceased by his parents Albert DeCasperis Sr. and Elizabeth Fischetti DeCasperis and older brothers Vincent and Peter.

Surviving Albert are his wife of 63 years Josephine DeCasperis, his daughter Christine McClean (Keith) and son Albert DeCasperis III. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Peter DeCasperis (Yelena), Ryan McClean, Alex McClean (Rose), Joseph DeCasperis, and Megan McClean, as well as one great- granddaughter Arabella DeCasperis.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm-6:00pm Sunday from the Colonial Funeral Home. 2170 Hwy.88, Brick.  A Funeral Mass will be held Monday July 1st at 10:00am at St. Dominic's RC Church, Brick.  Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.
