Arthur William Smith, 60, of Brick, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on May 4, 2025.
A resident of Shore Acres since the age of 4, Artie served as the community Dockmaster for several years and was known by all of the neighbors. He was truly loved by all who knew him. He started detailing boats as a teenager and continued that business for 45+ years. He spent his career as a Foreman in the Local 475 Steamfitters Union since 1986. Artie was strong in his faith and was very involved in Calvary Lighthouse as an usher and worked with the children in the Royal Rangers program. He walked with the Lord and never missed an opportunity to share The Word with friends and strangers alike. Over the past 2 years, he found a passion for ministry for those in prison and in recovery, spending several days a week encouraging them to know the Lord. He thrived in knowing that he was helping others and changing lives. He loved boating or any opportunity to be on the water and enjoyed riding his Harley.
He is pre-deceased by his Mother Carol Gapinski, Stepfather Douglas Gapinski, Stepmother Ae Pun Pak Smith, and Mother-in-Law Adrienne Day. He is survived by his Wife Andrea Smith, recently celebrating 30 years of marriage and 39 years together. Surviving family members include his Father Arthur Smith, Brother John Randy Smith, Sister Tammy Eiseman (Partner Brian), Sister Debbie Rymon (Spouse Bennett), Step-Sister Susan Grone (Spouse Larry), Father-in-Law John Day (Spouse Alice), Sisters-in Law Tracy Murray and Nicole Barcellona, and Nieces and Nephews: Billy (Spouse Krystine), Teressa, Gavin (Spouse Kaylee), Jake, Jadyn, Angelina, Lauren, Maliah, Avery, Bennett, and Joshua. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished relationships with dozens of children and young adults that called him Uncle Artie and will live on in the hearts of his friends that he has maintained since childhood.
Friends are invited to visit his memorial service at Calvary Lighthouse 1133 E. Countyline Road, Lakewood, NJ on Sunday, May 11th at 2:00 p.m. and repass immediately following at the Shore Acres Clubhouse , 159 Shore Drive, Brick NJ.

I'm so grateful for the times I shared with my brother-in-law Artie. Fishing on his boat, working together at the Steamfitters Union, and even our boat detailing days in Ocean Gate are memories I'll hold dear. He will be greatly missed. Until we meet again.

I met Artie when he brought the message of recovery to the jail where I was sentenced for three months. His enthusiasm and message of hope continued as I got to know him once I was released. Artie touched many, many lives.

Artie was a wonderful person. He always made me laugh with his funny stories. We would run into each other at Wawa and chat as we were preparing our coffees to go. He will be truly missed.

When I think of Artie I immediately think a family! There was hardly an event that he wasn't present and hardly a time that he didn't make his presence known. You could hear him no matter what room you were in. Laughing generally at himself! He was the brother-in-law and Uncle that you would call and he would be there. Unless of course it was for my daughters car side window lol! I so wish we had more time with him. I really thought that I would get to see the remainder of black hair on that head turn gray. I was truly blessed to have him for so many years and I'm going to miss him for so many more, until I see him again. Love ya Art! Say hi to Mom! ❤

I was lucky enough to get work alongside Artie as a Steamfitter. His kindness knew no bounds. Always quick w a smile, and willing to lend anyone that needed it a hand. Im proud to call him a brother and a friend. In a world full of turmoil, we need more people like Artie. Im sure he will not only be missed by his brothers in Local 475,but by all that were fortunate to know him. God bless you Artie. See you on the other side. Fair winds and following seas.

I will miss the kind smile and wave you always gave when you would pass the house on your way out of the neighborhood. The last time we spoke you told me about your raccoon buddies and were so excited about showing the videos. You were a good man and Paul and I were blessed to have you as a neighbor. Rest easy. The Shore Acres family will help to look out for your love Andrea. ✝
