To the woman who always loved me like a daughter even after all the time passed. To the woman who helped shaped my life as I was growing up in those critical teenage years. Thank you for being my second mom, always showing me kindness, grace and support. I love you Mama D. Tell Daddy I miss him so much too. And to the family who always welcomed me with open arms, I love you all.

Dena, I think from the time I could speak and say "aunt dee dee" I knew you loved me. My parents would dump us off to your care for summers and I was happy we could go see our ' fun auntie' who took us swimming at the public pool, silly time with cousins wading and swimming at a local creek, BBQ's when we shared plates of sliced beefsteak tomatoes and big wedges of watermelon with the salt shakers passed around 'cause that's the way to eat them! Overall, you made sure we were surrounded by kin pretty much everywhere we went and of course continuing our attendance and devotion to God by going to church where you lived by example, never boasting about your service to God and helping others, you just drove the van to pick up Granny, or taught in Sunday School, led the music, dropped off a casserole or whatever you brought for potluck...likely you did all of those things on any given Sunday while still making time to smile, laugh, greet others with such joy and enthusiasm. I was blessed to simply observe and thankful to just be a kid you accepted and loved.... occasionally get a pinch for being silly and laughing in service or during prayer when we were supposed to be quiet. I cried a few times when I learned you passed mostly, I smile because it makes me happy to think of you and Uncle Bob are in heaven, I can't be sad about that. Miss you until we meet again. Love you always. Dawn E.

Dena, you were such a guiding light in my christian walk. The few short years that I was in your Sunday School class were pivotal for me. I'll forever be grateful. Love you and I'll see you again.
