Donald Besaw Obituary

On Sunday, July 17th, 2022, Donald Besaw of Mesa, Arizona, passed away after a prolonged illness. Earlier in the day, we had listened by his bedside as his New York Yankees soundly beat the Boston Red Sox 13 to 2.

A veteran of two branches of service, Navy and Air Force. Don helped people for almost 40 years as a compassionate ICU / CVICU nurse. A husband, father, and grandfather, he always put his family first and believed strongly in equality for all. He loved to travel. He loved all animals from his beloved pets at home to Fiona the Hippo. He was always down for a beer. He was a huge baseball fan. He had a great love of reading books.

Don was born in Carthage, New York, graduated from Leavenworth Central, and studied to become a nurse at Fresno City College.

Don is survived by his wife, Lurabeth Julia; his sons Paul(Amy) and Dave(Zin), along with their mother, Pamala; his grandchildren Courtney and Bryan, along with their mother, Christine, who keeps us glued together as a family. Don's blended family included 3 children by marriage: Debbie, Colin(Deanna), and Pamela; grandchildren Shannon and Justin(Debbie), Sonja and Thomas(Colin), along with their mother, Sharon.

Don had a bright and energetic personality. His smile and chuckle were contagious. His wealth of knowledge and willingness to share were beyond anything one would ever learn from a book. We love you and you will be greatly missed by all.
