DONALD F. KOBIE, age 73, beloved husband of Barbara (nee Judy); loving father of Timothy (Sarah), Zachary (Erin); proud grandfather of Maverick, Peregrin, Ellie, Augustin, and Callahan; brother of Joseph Kobie (deceased) (Maryanne); uncle, cousin, and friend of many. Don was dependable, always working hard with a deep voice and a big laugh. He loved routine and hated clutter. Don raised two wonderful men and then welcomed two daughters- in-law like they had always been his daughters. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures like a burger from Jim’s Meats at the West Side Market or watching his grandkids play sports. He encouraged and loved them all in everything they did and effectively used bribery to improve their soccer skills. He stayed up late for any sports team games. He loved going to the Guards games in the summer and stayed loyal to the Browns even through years of disappointment, like a true Clevelander. He got more excited for Christmas than his grandkids as he dragged out and setup his train display to their delight each year. Don was a dedicated man of faith who gave years of service to his St. Adalbert Community. He served voluntarily as an Athletic Director, coach and eventually began organizing and directing the parish’s beloved fish fry. Passed away May 22, 2025. Funeral Mass Wednesday May 28, 2025 at St. Adalbert Church (Berea) at 11:30 AM. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of BEREA, 86 ADALBERT ST. OFF FRONT ST. (LOCATED IN THE POLISH VILLAGE HISTORIC DISTRICT), TUESDAY 3-6 PM.

Don and his brother Joe were such great guys we won’t use the word employees because they were much more than that to us. They brought dependability, responsibility and humor to the job as well as always a great attitude. We also knew Don out of the work setting and he was always so dedicated to his beautiful family and truly loved his role as a grandpa best telling us stories about how the kids were doing. They truly don’t make good guys like this anymore but I’m sure his boys and grandkids will continue his life teachings. What a loss to his family and all it us. Godspeed Don, you and Joe are together again!

Don was also a great roll model and mentor, demonstrating fairness in sports, and giving back of his time and talents. He will be missed. It was a blessing to know him. May he now rest in perpetual light.
