Gary Donovan Cox, age 84 of Camden, died November 6, 2025. He was born in Calhoun County in 1941 to John C. and Flossie Sims Cox. His grandparents were Jesse and Edna James Cox and Elbert and Annie Riggs. Sims. Gary spent his early years in Bearden and graduated from Bearden High in 1959. He graduated from Henderson in 1965 and received a master's degree from the University of Arkansas in 1974. He was a retired math teacher. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on his farm.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Stratton Cox, and never got over losing her. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Geneva Hudson of Bearden.
Survivors include son, John D. Cox and wife DeeAnna of Camden; grandchildren, Kaylee Elizabeth Cox, John W. Cox and wife Haley; great grandchildren, Kyzer Bush, J.B., and Tate Cox. He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Ashley of Little Rock and Bobbie Jones (Milton) of West Fork; a brother, John C. Cox (Sandy) of Hot Springs; sister-in-law, Dollie Stratton of El Dorado; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to give a special Thank You to Maddie, Regina, Traci, Elana, Becky and to Mr. Gary's Buddy, Lula.
In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made to Arbor Hospice, 726 California Ave., Camden, AR 71701
Visitation will be on Saturday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Proctor Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Salem Cemetery on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 2:00 P.M officiated by Bro. Grady Renix.

Dear Family,
I didn't know your Dad very well, but I enjoyed seeing him walking the neighborhood with his walking stick!! He let me get pine straw from his yard one day and we had a nice visit. It's hard to let go of a Father.
