George Chick, III Obituary

George E. Chick, III, affectionately known as “Big G,” passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 8, 2025, and was reunited with his son Dean after a brief but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Born August 6, 1948, in Saco, Maine, George lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication to his family, friends, and principles.

Known for being an avid Trump supporter, George proudly displayed his views through signs, t-shirts, hats, and more. He lived authentically, never shying away from expressing who he was. If you find that offensive, you may want to stop reading now.

The eldest of five boys born to George “Bud” Chick Jr. and Vivian Chick, George grew up in the close-knit community of Woodman, New Hampshire. He graduated from Nute High School in 1966 and proudly served as an airplane mechanic in the Air National Guard from 1967 to 1973. His career as a master tool-and-die craftsman spanned an impressive 55 years, showcasing his incredible skill, work ethic, and passion.

In 1969, George married the love of his life, Ruthie—whom he lovingly called “Zippy.” Together, they built a life centered around their family, creating cherished memories in the home George built himself. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Kathleen and Christine, and took immense pride in raising them alongside his beloved beagle companions, Garth and later, Pickles.

Big G was a man of many talents and hobbies. From expertly repairing engines and crafting beautiful furniture to “napping against a tree” while hunting and fishing, he embraced life with humor and heart. Whether snowmobiling, skiing, or boating at Great East Lake with Zippy, George’s joyful spirit shone brightly. He never missed a softball game, driving long distances after work to cheer on his girls, and always prioritized time with family, even if it meant giving his last $5.

George leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Ruth, and his daughters, Kathleen (Russell Loncaric) of Virginia and Christine (Patrick Carberry) of Wakefield. He was a cherished grandfather to Michael, Drake, Georgia, and Samantha, and a proud great-grandfather to Anabelle, Michael, and Maverick. He is survived by his brothers David (Jessica) and Brian (Barbara) of North Carolina, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his infant son, Dean Alan, his parents, and his brothers Jerry and Mark.

In lieu of donations, George’s family encourages everyone to honor his memory by spending quality time with their loved ones and, as George would have, treating their spouse to a Dairy Queen indulgence.

True to his wishes, a BBQ celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, 12 (noon), at his home - 285 Dearborn Road in East Wakefield.

Rest in peace, Big G. Your love and legacy live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
