Greg Phillip Graves 72, of Moose Lake passed away on January 9th, 2025, after a recent diagnosis of stage four cancer.
Greg always had a good sense of humor. Even as a child, he would crack a joke and laugh uproariously at it, himself. He is one of the middle siblings from a family of eight children, raised by a single mom. They did not have a lot, but there was always food on the table, a clean home, laughter and tears.
As a young man, he met his future wife and partner in life, Teresa. She had a little boy named James. Greg loved James and adopted him. They bought a log home in Moose Lake on the Moose Horn River in Minnesota. James finished high school and joined the service. When James was home, he was out with a friend and was in a fatal accident. The loss of James was devastating for Theresa and Greg.
Greg worked at the Moose Lake Mental Health Facility, caring for patients. This helped them to focus their energy on others. When the facility closed, Greg and Teresa built an addition onto their home and took three of the patients to live with and care for them. They would take their patients with them on trips in an RV all over the states. In this manner they gave love and nurturing to others, together. He will be missed by all who loved him. Greg suffered from cancer and is now at peace.
Greg was preceded in death by son, James Graves; mother, Cecilia Catherine Lindskoog; brothers, Randy Graves and Larry Graves; and brother-in-law, Virgil Hofford.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Graves; siblings, Pamela Lehan, Bob Graves, Jackie Graves, Casey Lindskoog, and Colleen Krisko; brothers in-law’s, Michael, Tony, and Jeff Hofford; sister-in-law, Cathy Eller; and godchild, Cecelia Lindskoog.
Visitation: 11:00 a.m until the 12:00 noon Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 60 Harman Drive, Moose lake, MN 55767. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer-research and the Moose lake Food Shelf.

I will miss you Uncle Greg! I have many fond memories of canoeing down the Moose Horn River to secret places, collecting agates, scary bear stories, playing 31 with lots of laughs! I'm so glad you are no longer in pain and are united in Heaven with James, Gram, Randy & Larry. Love you, Heidi

Theresa and family, I am so very sorry to hear of Greg’s passing. It was always fun to chat with Greg, whether at the floral shop, grocery store or his antique shop. He often had his beloved St. Bernard riding along with him as he ran errands. Greg had a big heart for people and animals alike. He will be missed. Rest peacefully, Greg.
