Joan Olmstead Obituary

Joan E. Olmstead, 87, of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Waterville Residential Care Center. She was born on June 8, 1938, in Oriskany Falls, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth (Thompson) Dupre.
Joan was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Oriskany Falls Schools. On July 26, 1958, she was married to Mark N. Olmstead. The couple shared many years together until Mark's passing on January 30, 2021.
Throughout her working career, Joan was employed as a supervisor at Vantine Studios, Hamilton, for more than 15 years. She later worked as an auditor at Turning Stone Casino for nine years before retiring. Joan was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her responsibilities.
She was a member of the Methodist faith and cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Joan enjoyed reading, cooking and had numerous cookbooks in her collection.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Cindy and Scott Ogden of Earlville; her son, Mark H. and Cindy Olmstead of Georgetown; her brother, Raymond Dupre of Arizona; and her beloved grandchildren, Molly Ogden, of Earlville and Carissa Clark of Syracuse.
She was predeceased by her granddaughters, Abigail Ogden, on November 25, 2025 and Jennifer Fish: her sister, Jean Wilmot, and brothers Arthur and Fay Dupre.
Graveside services in Poolville Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan's memory to the American Cancer Society.
