Hurt………John “Johnny” Owen Allen, age 76 of Hurt died Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at his residence.
Born April 17, 1948 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Margaret Nichols Allen of Gretna and the late Reuben Stroud Allen, Sr. He was predeceased by a brother, Reuben S. Allen, Jr.
In addition to his mother he is survived by a sister, Rose Marie Allen of Rustburg.
Per his request there will be no public service.

I knew Johnny well. He graduated with my brother from GHS and was at the top if not Valedictorian of that class. He was an athlete and was well liked.
He attended Virginia Tech and was in the School of Engineering. He could build as well as restore homes. Later he worked with his brother, Rueben, in their tree cutting and topping business.
Johnny was a good guy and a close friend of our family. I am deeply sorry to hear of his passing. Condolences to the family.

Rose Marie, my sympathy to you in the loss of your second brother. I remember good times when we used to come to your house and we all played together as small children. May God wrap his arms around you and bring you peace.
