Josefina Arias Robles was born on March 20, 1944 in Zacatecas, Mexico, to parents Ezequiel Robles Banuelos and Maria Cruz Cosio Marquez, and she passed on June 23, 2025. A devoted wife to Martin Robles Arias for 63 years until his passing in 2024. A beloved mother to Armando, Martin Jr. (deceased), Marta, Nicasio, Jorge, Josephine (Efrain Vasquez), and Javi. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Adrian Arias, Andre Arias, and Natalia Denise Vasquez, many nieces and nephews, many cousins, and friends. She came from a large family of 6 brothers and 4 sisters. She is also survived by her dear brothers Hipolito and Gustavo, and her loving sisters Victoria, Ramona, and Guillermina.
Josefina enjoyed cooking for her family. She was very generous with her food and would make enough to share with family, friends, and neighbors. She worked as a cook with The New Mecca Café for 20 years in Pittsburg, CA during the eighties and nineties.
She enjoyed her time in her garden admiring especially her roses and fruit trees. She loved animals, and would always have a dog by her side, and then later cats joined her in the yard. She loved her garden and tending to her beautiful red dahlias, chili peppers, cacti, and her variety of fruit trees. You would always see her working in her garden. Everything would thrive in her care.
She also liked crocheting, going shopping, and listening to music, and her favorite singer/actor was Antonio Aguilar.
Josefina was a devout Catholic and very prayerful. She loved spending time at St. Peter Martyr of Verona Church, and donating her time at church functions. She was a very nurturing person and very faithful to her church.
Josefina had a boundless love for her family and was a devoted child of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, son, and brothers Arturo, Pablo, Daniel, and Refujio.
She was kind, showed strength in all that she did, and had an open heart. Josefina was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose gracious spirit, deep faith, and had an unwavering love for her family; she left a lasting mark on all of those who knew her. Josefina was a mother figure to many beyond her own children, and her generosity and warmth touched countless lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 9:00am to 10:30am at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will follow at 11:00am at St. Peter Martyr Church. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch.
