Mark Ian Armstrong Obituary

Mark Ian Armstrong, beloved husband, son, brother, grandson, and friend, passed away in Aurora, Colorado on July 8, 2025. Born in Germany on June 10, 1994, raised in Woodstock, Georgia, and educated by his schooling and travels, Mark lived a rich and varied life. He spent his youth as both an Eagle Scout and a skateboarder, chased adventure by helping others as an EMT, working at a ranch in Central Texas, and professionally monitoring social media platforms for illegal activity. He was an eternal student of the world. Mark was a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and received his Masters at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, Germany.

Mark most recently found deep joy in educating children and spent the past few years as a schoolteacher at Kenton Elementary, where he was cherished by his students and coworkers alike. A gifted musician, he could fill a room with music from the piano, organ, drums, or guitar.

Mark’s love for German literature and writing could only be matched by his passion for the Grateful Dead and the reposeful escape of nature. He adored his cats (Mr. Jingles and Noodle) and dog (Laika).

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Constance Ingram; his parents, Scott and Dianne Armstrong; his brother, Cameron Armstrong (Marisa); his sister, Olivia Goodwin (Ethan); and his grandparents, Lou and Ruth Gunkel and Jean Armstrong.

A memorial service will be held in Watertown, Tennessee in August. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (memo FSHD).

Throughout his life, Mark was always happiest off the beaten path and his unique sense of humor is best understood through a German saying he had mounted on his wall.

“Alles hat ein Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei.”

For those of us left behind, we are consoled that “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”.

 Psalm 4-18
