2020
On the evening of April 30, 2020, God in all his infinite wisdom and power called home to glory one of his servants, Edmund Israel Collins at his residence in Eutawville, SC. Heaven has gained one more angel. “Eddie”, “Israel”, and “Dunk” as he was affectionally called was born on July 1, 1945 to the late Mrs. Pearline Collins Bennett and Mr. Steven Collins. Edmund was preceded in death by three sisters Ada Hamilton, Pearl Cameron, and Dinah Jefferson.
Edmund attended Central High School in Cross S.C. in Berkley County where he excelled in football. Edmund attended church with his mom at an early age to the Hickory Hill Baptist Church. After school, Edmund moved to New Jersey with his cousin/brother Bobby (Rock) to pursue his dreams. Upon migrating to New Jersey he gave his life to God, and became a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Jersey City, NJ. He met Margaret Franklin and was blessed with two children: Andrea and Dale. Edmund later met Mary Wright and was blessed with Timothy and Shawn. They were also blessed with seven children who he raised and loved dearly.
Edmund loved big commercial trucks and started driving all across the United States from the east to west coast. He eventually started his own trucking business where he employed many in the community and to provide for his family. He always wanted to lend a helping hand. He loved sports and traveling when he was able to. He could give you directions to anywhere you wanted to go. In 2002 he was injured on his truck and made the decision to retire after driving for over 35 years. He was a devoted companion, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He loved spending time with all of his children and especially his grandchildren.
